From Amazon:
Christa has always been anxious but, at this moment, life seems oh so hopeful with her hand in Kiernan's as the tour bus climbs a narrow road up the side of the Rockies. Blue skies turn bitterly cold mid-afternoon as a blizzard pushes the group of 8 strangers out of their bus and to take shelter in an abandoned hunting cabin.
Deep in the night, their tour guide goes missing…only to be discovered the following morning, his severed head impaled on a large pine tree outside the cabin. Eight drops to seven and it becomes clear that someone in the group is killing for sport.
It's a locked room thriller/mystery but set in a winter wonderland in an abandoned cabin. Perfect read for the current winter weather.
On a bus with with eight strangers Christa and her boyfriend Kiernan are on their way to Blackstone Alpine Lodge. The lodge is nestled high in the Rocky mountains.
On the way a tree blocks their path. The guide Brian has tools to remove the obstacle but it's going to take a while. In the meantime Christa and Kiernan go off and explore. This is where things start going very wrong.
A storm moves in making all possibilities of getting to the lodge via the bus impossible so the guests decide to stick it out in an abandoned cabin.
The next morning their guide is found dead with his head impaled on a tree.
It takes a well known formula of one by one people being killed off with the question of who the murder is and why.
There were some very tense moments that drag you right in.
I hate to do it but I'm only giving it 3/5 stars but I have a reason. I figured the whole thing out quite early in the plot. A few things threw me but otherwise I was pretty spot on. I can't rate it lower though because I did feel like it was engaging so I would recommend.
