Final Girls Support Group

From Amazon

Lynnette Tarkington is a real-life final girl who survived a massacre. For more than a decade, she’s been meeting with five other final girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, working to put their lives back together. Then one woman misses a meeting, and their worst fears are realized—someone knows about the group and is determined to rip their lives apart again, piece by piece.

But the thing about final girls is that no matter how bad the odds, how dark the night, how sharp the knife, they will never, ever give up.

This novel is a total homage to slasher movies. There are references to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Scream and several others.

Six final girls meet regularly in a church basement with their psychiatrist. One day a member doesn't show and things spiral from there.

The story is told from the point of view of paranoid, OCD, crazy Lynette Tarkington. When Adrienne doesn't show for group she immediately thinks that the entire group is being targeted but no one will listen to her.

Honestly I understand why they won't listen to her because she makes some seriously questionable decisions throughout the entire book.

I don't even know how she survives day to day life. Normally paranoid people are super careful. Lynette is not. She armors her entire apartment which fails her. She designs elaborate escape routes which fail her.

I was so annoyed with her reasoning throughout this entire book. No wonder her sister survivors abandon her.

The end really sealed the deal though. I enjoyed the twist and loved the ending. Just could have some without the spiraling crazy Lynette.

I gave this 3/5 stars 🤩
